Our Mission
Berkeley's Kitchen (BK) is a non-profit organization that aims to inspire the Berkeley community and the Greater Bay Area to cook more and eat more, but of course with a delicious twist. Our main mission is to provide our community affordable food education in cooking and other culinary forms, and promote diverse ethnic cuisines while emphasizing on sustainable foods. Moreover, one of the principles of Berkeley's Kitchen is to support charitable works. BK organizes and subsidizes cooking classes for populations in need within the Bay Area. Moreover, BK is endorsing a language tutoring program for low-income Chinese children in Tijuana, Mexico. The language program is organized by Sprout for Success.
Berkeley's Kitchen is first known for cooking clinics in which participants learn culinary skills and techniques directly from professional chefs of local restaurants in Berkeley. In addition to hands-on lessons at the restaurants themselves, our clinics range from food demonstrations to cooking lessons taught in our home facility. Exclusive cooking clinics for private parties and other organizations are also offered.
Through BK Dining, participants enjoy special discounts and exclusive talks by professional chefs while dining at some of the finest restaurants in Berkeley. We also organize fieldtrips to explore food outside of the Berkeley area, such as day-trips to Napa Valley. Lastly, Berkeley's Kitchen works with local restaurants to offer catering services geared towards recession budgets. With the multi-dynamic structure of Berkeley's Kitchen, volunteer opportunities and internships are created..
With the support of well-known local restaurants such as Spenger's Fresh Fish Grotto, Cafe Venezia, Venus Restaurant and more, Berkeley's Kitchen has the wide network to offer Berkeleyans unprecedented opportunities in exploring good food.
Happy eating, and we appreciate your support of Berkeley's Kitchen and its charities.
